Vintage Cottage Renovation

This is one of our many Vintage Cottage Renovation shown at completion.

Our happy clients love their new home on the water, designed and built by GM Projects Ltd, Sunshine Coast BC.

This Renovation required cutting off a large portion of the old family cottage. The old cottage did not have a foundation, because it had been built on logs, which are still visible in the photo before we removed them.

The Reno required the house to be gutted to make way for the updated living spaces.

The Renovation was handled carefully to comply with existing laws and codes regarding ‘grandfathered’ properties now considered too close to the waters edge.

Here you can see the beginning forms for the new full concrete foundation. The old cabin had been supported by wood logs set directly in the dirt.

Here is the foundation framing for the new Addition on backside of house.

Here we are Barging in the concrete trucks for the foundation pour. We have specialized in hard to reach properties, as well as waterfront or water access properties.

We also have built within careful bounderies to protect the local landscape.

To the left we’ve poured the concrete foundation and are hard at work on the custom build for the new Addition, and the floor is being built as well.

Now the beautiful ‘post and beam’ cathedral ceiling on the new Addition is taking shape, including the new windows and French doors being installed.

Here new wood beams were installed for structural support on the original cabin (shown as the closest 2 beams to the camera). In the background is the future kitchen and dining room of the new Addition.

The cathedral ceiling height and the surrounding extra large windows make this room a lovely spot to take in the view at any time of the day.

To the right is the new deck and outdoor entertaining areas being built to flow with the environment.

Here’s another view of the finished Cottage Renovation with rebuilt boathouse turned into a bunkhouse for the grandkids with entertaining decks between the 2 buildings.

The renovated bunkhouse (on the far left) is peeking through the trees. The mature trees and natural foliage, such as salal and lichens on the rocks, were all preserved to keep it natural and protect the environment.

We are delighted to show you the finished Cottage Renovation with the Additions, surrounding decks and walkways all built by GM Projects, Sunshine Coast BC.

The new boat dock was built and delivered by WR Marine for this project.
